Club drive, College, Catastrophe
It´s sophomore year, time to get serious about the future. I went to my first college meeting today, San Diego University. I must admit, I was impressed, my dad doesn´t want me to go because apparently ¨too many sailors and marines live there¨ ah, my dad and his retired navy humor. Who cares if I fall in love with a sailor? Any way, back on the path of relevance, no matter what college I attend there's still one fatal flaw... I have NO IDEA what I want to study!!!! I'm good at a few things, but I don't feel like there's anything I'm "exceptionally" good at, and Lord knows I don't really have a passion for anything. Is that an awful thing to say? Is it pitiful that I'm not passionate about anything; out of all the hobbies, skills, professions, and pastimes there isn't a single thing that I absolutely LOVE to do? I want a career that's like oxygen to me, where every minute without it I suffocate. I've heard it said that the American Dream is the marriage of your passion and your profession, but how can you choose a profession without a passion? The more I study career choices the more I find that the two are almost directly related...or is it inversely related? Well, there goes my career as a math or science teacher, I don't even know the difference between "directly" and "inversely", or maybe I do but I'm just too scatterbrained to use the words in a sentence. If being scatterbrained is the case then I defiantly couldn't hold a job in management, or anything that requires intense focus. I have NO focus, I'm suppose to be doing math homework at this very moment, but instead I'm ranting in a blog. Oh my gosh, what was I talking about again? Oh! College, impossible, absolutely impossible. And then there's club drive, the mini "Rush Week" of my high school. It's one of the biggest, most crucial moments of the year. Club drive isn't just deciding what club you want to join. When you join a club you're choosing to work with, eat with, and most importantly be ASSOCIATED with a certain group of people. You're establishing your legacy! Club drive is everything, and just like college, the club I'm joining: UNDECIDED. What I want to be known for, just like my major: UNDECLARED. How can the daughter of two middle class, academically accomplished, financially empowered, successful African-American parents be left with so little direction?

Improving and Relieved
When life throws lemons at you, just throw em' right back. That's what I'm doing with Geometry, because this is just ONE course, ONE class, ONE subject that I'm lousy at, and I'm not going to let it ruin my summer or my self-esteem. I've gotten a tutor, and for the last two weeks of summer school I will ask more questions, solve more practice problems, and kick more mathematic butt than ever before. I find comfort in knowing that I'm almost past the finish line; also, studying has become more bearable now that I have someone with me to answer my questions at home. I'm already seeing a difference, for instance, today I achieved a perfect score on my quiz. One more thing, sitting down for a good meal and listening to Sinatra is the stress reliever of the week. "Time after time, you'll hear me say that I'm so lucky to be loving you"........ it doesn't get any more soothing then that

Car Washing and Coffee
Taking geometry during the summer is the most ferocious battle I've ever had to fight. For three weeks there hasn't been a single day that I haven't cried my eyes out. It's embarrassing to admit that I cried but it's the truth. There are so many things about Geo that upset me, first it's the simple fact that I've gotten a D on almost every single test (including the midterm), but it's more than just the grades. The idea of being, for once in my life, BELOW AVERAGE is terrifying and humiliating; every time I look at my progress reports it feels like I'm being punched in the stomach. To make matters worse, I've let my stupid pride keep me from getting a tutor, I've tried going online, and reading reference books. Day in and day out I study any where from two to four hours (pausing for meals and potty breaks), so you can imagine my disappointment to see all of my hard work amount to borderline failure. Today I washed my aunt's huge Toyota truck, it took about two hours because the monstrous vehicle hasn't been cleaned in God only knows how long, the majority of the truck was covered in bird poop. Despite the feces, washing her car was fun, I think it's safe to say that it gave me endorphins. After that I had an unhealthy, two cups of coffee (to relax, because I'm not old enough to drink alcohol). I never knew that a little manual labor followed by some Hazel Nut Java would cure my academic depression. If Geometry ruins me I know that I have a bright future as a car washing barista!

Degrassi Season 10 woot woot!!!
Degrassi returns July 19th every night @ 9pm eastern! It's going to be amazing, new romances, fights, and gut-wrenching drama that "goes there". All episodes will lead up to the new movie Degrassi Takes Manhattan. For the whole month of July I'll be a complete recluse, my friends and family may never see me again, but Degrassi is BEYOND worth it.

I'm so irresponsible it's not even funny : (
Ugh, sometimes I am just too unbelievable and not in a good way. My school recommends every student to have a certain graphing calculator, a TI-84 to be exact. It's a great graphing calculator and works for all math levels (from Algebra I to Calculus), however it cost over one hundred dollars in retail. You can buy this calculator for a fraction of that price on e Bay but then you'll have to wait 5-8 business days for it which is not good if you're in summer school. My parents bought me this special calculator at the beginning of my freshmen year, and half way through the year I lost it. They took no pity on me and said that I had to buy myself a new one. So, I saved up all my Christmas pennies and bought one on eBay for half the retail price, and you'll never guess what happened to it........ I LOST IT!!! Yep, that's right, I lost a $122 calculator, and then a $50 calculator (same model), so now I have to take the money I've been saving for a homecoming dress and spend it on a 3rd TI-84 graphing calculator. I'm NOT telling my parents and I vow that this 3rd calculator will not be "misplaced".
it's the beginning of the end my friends
Oh no! Freshmen year is over! A whole year of coasting, acing every test without even trying, has flown out the window! Now for the dreaded sophomore year where I'll be taking a whopping TWO honors classes instead of just one, (I know I'm a slacker, complaining about two honors courses while all of my friends are taking four or five!). It's not all bad though, because; although I didn't get re-elected to be on ASB (student government) AND I didn't get a part in the play that I recently auditioned for, I was accepted to be apart of the Ambassadors program at my school (which is another branch of student leadership) and I landed a role in the last play of my freshmen year, The Brothers Grim Spectacularthon! So overall, freshmen year was pretty legit, and I'm praying that the good Lord will give me an even more amazing sophomore year *gulp* I'm glad I'm not a freshmen.......but.....is there any way I can time travel to my post graduation party???
